The goals and duties of the Photography office have changed since the department has transitioned from University and Community Relations to University Communications and Marketing (UCM). Please take the time to review the changes in policy and procedure. Priorities for photographic assignments are news stories, marketing and advertising projects, campus publications, documentation of significant campus events and stewardship. All photography requests must fall into one of these categories before approval is considered. We do not have the resources or time to cover all events. In addition, we do not supply prints of photos that are taken.
• News and Event Coverage - Because of news media deadlines, these assignments may be given priority over all other requests. They may include on- and off- campus "documentary" news coverage of events related to the University and/or pre-event promotional photos or photos designed to accompany a feature story. We also respond to requests made directly from outside media sources. Individuals with upcoming events should contact both UCM news service and the University photographer.
•Advertising/Marketing/Illustration/Art - These photos include a varied blend of campus scenes, feature illustrations and generic campus art developed for use in a wide variety of promotional and advertising literature and also in Web page design. In planning your project, you may find the images you need in our growing archive of campus shots linked here: http://uncpphoto.smugmug.com. If not, contact us about your project idea and a photo shoot can be scheduled to produce images more tailored to your specific needs. Please plan for these production sessions well in advance since we are continually working around news deadlines.
•Faculty and Staff Headshots – Wednesday is headshot day. The studio, located upstairs in Jacobs Hall, Suite L, will be set up for headshots every Wednesday from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. and from 1 - 4 p.m. If, you are unable to attend a Wednesday headshot session, please state this in your photo request form and we will try to make a special appointment for you. Walk-ins are welcome, but please call ahead of time if possible.
